MINA WALKING has won the main jury prize for Best Film at the 28th Der Neue Heimatfilm Festival in Freistadt, Austria. The Award comes with a 2222 euro prize.
Here is the statement from the international Jury:
We would like to give the main award for the best feature film to MINA WALKING by Yosef Baraki. An intense and engaging portrait of a young Afghan girl, making her way through the difficult circumstances of everyday Kabul. The young girl doesn`t react, she is the mover and the shaker of the situation. She is powerful: she isn`t a victim at any cost. The film brings us to Kabul, Afghanistan, observes with a documentary attitude and amazes us through an extraordinarily talented actress.
